Within the menu, set recording parameters such as direction and polar pattern, activate the Auto Start function and set file format. And youll find additional settings like Auto Gain Control to make sure your recordings are always pristine. And you can fine-tune your levels on the fly with the Record Level buttons on the front.

On the right side of the H2, you can plug in a powered 1/8" external stereo mic. Setting levels is easy with a Mic Gain slider for Low/Medium/High gain. You can also digitize analog recordings with the 1/8" Line In.
Use the USB 2.0 Interface to move your files to a PC or Mac for storage, editing and playback. The time stamp function is great for reference during production. And you can even use the H2 as a USB mic and record directly to your favorite digital audio software.

I am very happy with this purchase. It is easy to use, although the start up time is a little slower than I prefer. The sound quality is good for such an inexpensive device. It eats batteries though, I suggest using the supplied power cord when you can.
H2 Zoom - Good Stuff...

I have had the H2 for a little less than a month now. Ive been pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the overall quality of the recordings so far. The accuracy is excellent. The functionality of unit itself is beautiful in its simplicity. Easy to learn and use. By setting the REC MODE to record at 192k mp3, you get very good quality and just shy of six hours worth of continuous recording time, and thats with using the included 512MB SD card. Upgrade that to (a now ubiquitous) 4GB SD card, which at the time of this writing costs just under $10 US, and you have now increased your recording time limit eight fold.
I was impressed with the accessory package that is included with the H2 also. Particularly the inclusion of power and mic stand adapters. It seems the folks that designed the package really took the time to think about the end user and what they would need to start successfully using the unit right away. Very nice job. Especially with the current state of the consumer world being a forced, hyper la carte experience. (batteries-not-included anyone?) Having what you need in the box goes a long way to earning customer loyalty.
Im a drummer, and although I have pro level mics and some high end outboard equipment, the time to set all the mics up, connect the devices, get levels, etc. prior to recording a single note sometimes turns out to be more trouble than its worth. Especially if the original intent was to just capture a groove idea of some kind. For me, nothing kills creative inspiration quicker than getting into a tangle of mic cables and track levels.
Using the H2, I can setup my drums and put the recorder on a mic stand in front about ten feet out, and four foot high and I end up with a nice, balanced recording that I can archive, email, loop, or otherwise use. No muss, no fuss. The "L" position on the MIC Gain switch can handle some seriously high SPL levels.
Recording band rehearsals is just as simple. Mic stand in the middle of the room. Put the H2 in two channel surround so both the front and rear mics are engaged and hit record. Its really that easy.
Tip 1: There is (at the time of this writing) a firmware upgrade that brings the unit up to version 1.40. Always good to keep your gear updated whenever possible. The install was simple and straightforward.
Tip 2: Download and use the awesome (and free!) audio application, Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) for easy editing of the files you record with your H2 after transfer to your PC (via USB).
Suggestion to Zoom 1: Having the case made of aluminum or another light weight metal instead of plastic would go a long way to alleviate the constant fear of the resulting H2 gravity hard floor equation. Maybe even a rubberized shell would help. Pure speculation mind you as I have yet to drop the thing. But I find Im very careful with it. Next version?
Suggestion to Zoom 2: Im constantly hitting the "play/pause" key for cursor down moves instead of the right arrow. And I cant imagine Im the only one. Firmware change?
The H2 leaves little to be desired.

After reading many reviews on Amazon, I purchased two Zoom H2 Recorders. Right out of the box, they both worked. The quality of sound is amazing.
First Recorder:
I found no problems. I recorded a couple of pieces of single instrument music using built in Mics. The quality is great. I played back on head phones, on stereo, on TV ( R and B) with display blank, and to a laptop. All worked great. The laptop uses Win Vista. ITUNES and Win Media Player worked great. The file properties are : Type Wave Sound bit rate 2116 kbps, Audio sample size 24 bit , channels 2 (stereo) , Audio sample rate 44 khz and audio format PCM.
Second Recorder:
Playback also worked great on headphones , stereo, etc. But I have a problem when I tried to play on my laptop which uses Win XP Pro and the latest downloaded version of Win Media Player (version 11). I get error " one or more codecs to play the files could not be found" The file properties are the same as above. I found similar problem with Realone Player also. It plays well on ITUNES and also on Audacity software. I repeated the above on my 2 desktops ( Win XP Pro) also. I have the same problem when played on WMP.I contacted Tech support of ZOOM H2. But they are of no help. Can someone help me how to play it on Win Media Player? I must be missing something.

I got the H2 to get board mixes from my reggae bands live shows and also to record a bagpipe band that I play in. It works beautifully for both. The built in mike rig works great, it works well with an external mike (which I would recommend for anything requiring close miking)and it is easy to use. The menus are intuitive and it is very light weight. I would definitely be careful about dropping it though I dont think it would tolerate abuse well. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.

This leather case is a great fit, looks classy and is made by Nikon. Excellent value and terrific look. My fiance loves it because it fits so closely that it still doesnt take up a lot of room in her purse. There isnt any extra space for batteries, memory cards, etc., but that would defeat the purpose of the compact design of the CoolPix camera. You cant go wrong with this case....Im picky and it is just perfect.

I bought this for my fiance for Christmas and she loves it! The color is unique and very classy...at weddings, etc., when there are other cameras laying around, hers really stands out. For me, I did a lot of research and you cannot beat the value or performance for this size of a camera. Wish I had bought this for myself before I bought my Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ5, because it is smaller, half the price and it takes better low-light photos with better color, albeit the zoom is only 5x as opposed to the Panasonics 10x zoom. Dont let the cool color of this Nikon make you think it is not technically sound...its a great camera at a great price and in the perfect size.

I bought this for my fiance for Christmas and she loves it! The color is unique and very classy...at weddings, etc., when there are other cameras laying around, hers really stands out. For me, I did a lot of research and you cannot beat the value or performance for this size of a camera. Wish I had bought this for myself before I bought my Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ5, because it is smaller, half the price and it takes better low-light photos with better color, albeit the zoom is only 5x as opposed to the Panasonics 10x zoom. Dont let the cool color of this Nikon make you think it is not technically sound...its a great camera at a great price and in the perfect size.

I bought this Canon Powershot just before leaving on a family trip and had just a few hours to familiarize myself with it before putting it to work. Given my lack of familiarity with any digital cameras, I have little with which to make a comparison, however, I found the camera easy to use and was very satisfied with the resulting pictures.
I was warned by my sister that the capacity of the memory card supplied with the camera would be too small, so I immediately bought another card. If I hadnt been forewarned, I certainly would have been disappointed on my trip.
Finally, in the course of two weeks I took about 300 photographs and ran through three sets of batteries. The 2x batteries are inexpensive and easy to find, but I dont know if that rate of use is par for the course.
Overall, I was pleased with the ease of use and the quality of the pictures.

Great set of features for the price. Takes excellent pictures in adequate light. Small aperture limits zooming in low light, so just keep that in mind use a tripod in that situation. It could use a smaller image display as this large one uses a lot of power. I highly recommend using the ultimate lithium AA batteries.

Bought this camera because I was looking to own a cam that is AA battery operated. My old camera was a 2003 graduation gift (canon powershot sd100) and it still works fine, I just fed up with keep buying new batteries (for $40) every year not to mention how much I hated to lose pictures due to battery issues. Now I can just replace the old batteries with new AAs and Im good.
There are two things I dont like about this camera, the A1000IS. 1. the flash. The flash is at the very top corner of the camera and most of the times I dont even realize that I cover it when I shoot the picture....and the picture will come out dark. Also, the flash on my old and now 6 year old Canon Powershot SD100was brighter and better than this one. 2. the materials used for this new camera are pretty cheap compared to my old SD100 which was hard metal not some cheap plastic like this. The pictures it takes are nice but Im not sure if its any nicer then the ones I take with the SD100.

Construction of camera seems cheap, very unhappy with overall perfomance, lots of features but not user friendly

Camera was bought as a gift and was not opened until more than 30 day return window. On day it was first opened it would not turn on. It was returned to CASIO service and sent back to me. It worked until battery ran out and then battery would not re-charge. Camera was returned for 2nd repair attempt and subsequently returned with a new battery charger. Again when battery ran out it would not recharge. On third return CASIO service said the corrosion indicator had turned right and warranty was void. I tried to explain that the camera has never worked for a long period of time as reported by the two previous returns, but they would not honor the warranty. I can honestly say that while under my short time with the camera it was not taken outside or put in a moist or wet environment. In fact it was in their possession (CASIO service)more than mine after it was initially opened. They offered me the upgrade option but I declined since I will not give that company another penny of my money. I will never buy another CASIO product, and hope others will do the same.

Received this camera as a Christmas gift last year -- it didnt make it to this Christmas. Warranty is 1 year from date of purchase.
The camera is very easy to use and takes good pictures. We were particularly happy with its ability to stop motion.
The battery clip failed within the first week but the battery door keeps it in so no serious problem.
The battery failed in the second week but Casio sent a new one out in a jiffy.
The camera has had a lot of use but nothing out of the ordinary. It worked great for 50 weeks then it started reporting a "lens error". Looking on the Internet verifies this is a typical problem with this camera. Casio wants $120 to repair it -- ha! The lens was not abused, and nothing happened that we can determine should have caused it to quit. We took some pictures -- downloaded them and turned the camera off. The next day it would not work.

Before buying this Casio Exilim 7.2MP digital camera, I had a v603 6.1MP Kodak camera (battery no longer holds charge cause dropped it too many times), but because of how small and slim this Casio is I bought it just to see what it can do... Not too happy with the qualities that this camera offered...
The truth is, my old v603 6.1MP Kodak Digital camera takes way better pictures/videos than this 7.2MP Casio... Go with Kodak, ull have better luck and be much happier too... At least I am... =)

I previously had a Panasonic DMC-LZ2 with which I was satisfied, so I was comfortable with choosing another Panasonic DMC and familiar with many of the features and menus. The DMC-TZ3 has been an amazing little camera for a point and shoot that I got for just under $200. It has many extras that my LZ2 didnt have - love the candlelight setting - and it does well in low light. I put an 8G memory card in it and purchased an extra battery - these lasted through at least 1.5 hours of video and 150 pictures - both at the maximum quality. I have been receiving rave reviews on my videos on YouTube and many questions as to what kind of camera I used... my only wish for it is that you could change the zoom level in the middle of videoing. Be sure to not have your finger over the microphone while recording - my first test video had this awful sound - fortunately I figured out why.
To see my videos - search for fanmamma on YouTube and look for video created October 28, 2008, or later. Be sure to set it to watch in high quality as good as these are, the original files are even better.

Well, what can I say this camera is wonderful. It has everything, I mean everything you can ask for. This camera has received best test results in 2007/2008 and is still a hot item in 2008 eventhough the new type TZ5 was launched in the market. This camera has received a better test results regarding the speed shooting pictures in sequence. It is therfore alos good snap shot camera, but much more than this. Read more: It does not take a long time compared to other cameras to charge, focus and take a wonderful shot. It shoots brilliant picutes although the flash is super bright. It does not have manual features, but many many programs from which you can choose of for almost every surrounding the right setting is available. Also, you have two buttons you can "pre-set"with your favourite settings so it is super simple to handle.
The "only" 7.x megapixels are just fine they match to the chip that is inside the camera and thats the important part somebody told me. All pixels should have room on that chip to produce the best quality of pictures - which this camera really does.
But the best part is the super zoom, 10x and an additional digital zoom, also it has some neat functions like the "hold still button" not sure what the correct term is, but it prevents the camera or rather the image on the screen from shaking, you take quick, excellent, high resolution shots! Yeah, I love that camera, I put a fast SD-HD card inside, 4 GB so that I can use the "burst function" as well, many pics I can shoot in quick sequence. It looks nice and helps when you do a photo story.
Well, I could say much more positive things and only positive things this thing is great, remember you cover even a 28mm angle (wide angle).
Hey, if there are more of these "old" cameras on the market - go get one, the new typse not necessarily have to be better- remember this. Most of the time it is a battle among the manufactures more megapixels, but that does not count all the time. So, if you are thinking of buying a camera - this is the one, eventhough it is Japanese, but hey you know they make could quality besides the lens is I think made in Germany(!) Leica and that is still one of the top quality products / brands.
So, I hope I could give all readers a little insight of my feelings and view.

I bought this when my Fuji F700 hit the pavement - too bad, that was a better camera. This one is solidly built, great screen, good features, but has three big drawbacks: it consistenly overexposes (Ive manually set it to a darker exposure), the contrast and color depth seems mediocre, and its bad in even moderately low light conditions - always uses a flash indoors even when it seems pretty bright, and you get a big overexposure on your subject when that happens.

I have used this as a helmet cam to capture my firefighting duties. This little camera takes great video and with the addition of a SD card it takes over an hours worth. Very durable and easy to operate. I would have liked it to record sound better. I would suggest this camera for anyone wanting to capture any kind of action type video under extreme circumstances. Very good bang for the buck.

This little camera is exactly what I was expecting. An inexpensive camera that takes low rez video of decent quality. The mic isnt completely useless but almost. You can remove the mic cover with 2 triangle head screws & replace the rubber seal with a cloth or foam cover. This will increase the wind noise, but you may actually hear someone speaking (barely). The video is actually better than expected. I have been night skiing several times with it & have captured some decent action. Just keep a steady hand unless you want to make your audience dizzy. Even without a preview or sight you can still get what you were aiming at most of the time. Lastly make sure to use 15 frames per second. For some reason my camera cannot sync the audio to the video at 30 frames per second. Its about 1 second off at that frame rate. Anyway this thing is a good value. Dont expect too much and remember it didnt cost much.

I bought this to mount to my track going motorcycle. The season doesnt start for me until April so Ill have to wait until then to really see what this camera can do. I am pleased with the variety of mounting hardware that it comes with and relative ease of operation. I do recommend connecting it to a Windows PC when viewing the footage. I tried it with a Mac and the images were much darker. It also presented some trouble when I failed to eject it properly from the Mac. I had to connect it to the Windows PC in order to get the thing to delete footage. I did not troubleshoot this so I cant say what the issue was but it did work just fine when connected to a Windows PC. Your results may vary.
I think it will do the job nicely. One thing to note is that the microphone is not very strong. It is protected from the elements and therefore nearly muted although Im sure to get some wind and engine noise from the bike.
An "Action Cam"...?????

The resolution of this "camera" is so poor as to relagate it to the statis of a kids toy. Granted, its cheap, waterproof, and nearly immune to shock. Usable videos? Only a distant "sort of"....and thats IF youre sufficiently skilled to actually get it pointed at that which you wish to capture. No view finder = take a guess.

The camera is great, its a well designed product and much better than its predecessor, the ATC1000. The buttons are a little hard to work, but thats my only gripe. For a simple headcam, it does the job & its waterproof! Ignore the internal memory, its not enough for anything, a 2GB SD card gives about one hour of video at the highest resolution, which works out fine for DVDs & YouTube. I attach my cam to ski goggles (for sailing videos) which works fine for me. Chseck out my vids with this cam at www.youtube.com/laserd8.
